"The Palestinian cause is not a cause just for the Palestinians but for every revolutionary, wherever he or she may be, a cause for the exploited and oppressed masses of our times."
Ghassan Kanafani
The blog we present today (19-06-09) wants to promote and support in every way exactly this slogan, this idea. 61 years after the great disaster (Nakba), 42 years after the complete occupation of the historical Palestine (the War of the Six Days), resistance is now more necessary than ever. There is no room for any delusions of compromise with those who force the Palestinian people to extinction. Resistance to the Zionist occupation, resistance against the imperialist intervention in the region with the overt support of the fascist - Zionist state of Israel, resistance against the selling-out of the Palestinian people by the reactionary Arab regimes, resistance to those within Palestine itself, who are trying to betray the tremendous struggle and sacrifices of so many years.
Fortunately, this proud and unenslaved people has not given in, despite the great difficulties now faced by so many years of occupation, the great cost of this choice in human lives, the negative international correlation, the internal problems. The Palestinian people continues to resist and demands to materialize its vision of a free, democratic and independent Palestine. The only ally in this struggle are the people around the world, those who stand by their side in every way, those who contribute in any way they can in order for the Palestinian people to stand up until the final victory. We have no illusions that a blog will solve the problem of practical solidarity, neither we aim to substitute it with texts.
However, we can help, in order for the Palestinian issue not to become a graphic issue - as it is usually said - not to remember it only every time the Zionists launch a genocide like the one in the Gaza Strip last December, and not to exhaust towards charity and painlessly channels, the will of the people in our country to support this struggle. In this context and in the particularly complex period in which we live, with so many great geopolitical and economic changes that have happened (and even more will occur), we consider studying the Palestinian issue (and generally the issue of the Middle East through it) to be critical.
So, in this space that we called r-freepalestine.blogspot.com, we will try in a systematic way, rather than reporting the daily news (to which most of us have now great access): to highlight views and analyses of fighters, of activists and intellectuals from Palestine and around the world, especially important, which can orientate our stance in this new period,to make known, without any filtering, the positions, the attitudes and the practices of the Palestinian organizations and movements participating in this struggle to promote and coordinate with solidarity movements in our country and around the world, with missions to Palestine, with campaigns and movements that will keep the issue in the news and will even help in the temporary relief of this afflicted peopleto discover the power of the culture - in all its aspects - in the solidarity movement as well as to propagate its important position in the Palestinian resistance, now but also in the past to provide access (mainly for the younger) to the key aspects of the historical path of this complex issue.
We have tried a lot - and we hope we haven't made many omissions - to always mention the source of the publications. In any case, we are willing to rectify immediately to any observation that will get to our email r.freepalestine@gmail.com, as well as to consider any corrections, comments, suggestions, ideas for this space. We are also open as the blog’s management team to cooperate with anyone who is interested in contributing to this effort. We are not specialists in the new technologies, or theoretical scholars of the Palestinian issue. We just hope we can contribute in our way to the support of the resistance for a free Palestine, especially today, in this historically difficult juncture for this people.
We will be happy when we will need to close this blog, that is when there will be a truly FREE PALESTINE.R-FreePalestine
